Project Description

The City of Hudson, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), has proposed a project to rehabilitate the Dillman Drive Bridge (SFN: 7740220) over a stream identified as the North Branch (Unnamed Tributary RM 0.18) in the City of Hudson.

The bridge was most recently evaluated in 2021 with the bridge deck have a rating of 4 out of 10 (considered poor, due to spalling at underside of bridge) while the foundation was rated a 7 out of 10 (considered good, only minor issues). The replacement project will include the removal and replacement of the bridge deck only, as the foundations are rated in good condition.
Project Area Map

The proposed improvements include replacing the approach slabs and superstructure (deck), along with road repairs, resurfacing, and guardrail improvements near the bridge. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in summer 2025 and last approximately 15 months.

The project will require a detour during 5 months of the construction. The detour will be in place for approximately 150 consecutive days while the bridge is closed for rehabilitation. The northbound traffic on Dillman Dr. will detour to Ashton Dr., to Stonebridge Ct., to Stow Rd., to Hudson Aurora Rd. and reverse for southbound traffic (see detour route map). The detour will be in place for approximately 150 consecutive days while the bridge is closed for rehabilitation.

Currently, environmental studies are ongoing and exact impacts are unknown. Impacts to the stream and a small amount of suitable wooded bat habitat may occur. If impacted, waterway permitting will be obtained and any necessary tree removal will occur between October 1 and March 31 to protect bat species during their summer roosting period.
