Fairmount Properties, the developer and owner of First & Main, has presented a conceptual plan to City Council for a proposed Phase 2 development downtown. The proposal includes a larger Heinen's and approximately 100 town homes and quad villas in the downtown Phase 2 area. Council wants to hear from Hudson citizens about this plan as they consider this proposal from Fairmount Properties.

The proposed plan includes a new 40,000-square-foot Heinen’s (about twice the size of the current Heinen's). Fairmount would repurpose the current Heinen’s building for a new use. Fairmount Properties is seeking citizen input on possible reuses for that property.

Fairmount has asked Council for a purchase agreement with contingencies, such as Planning Commission approval, for the land purchase to occur. Heinen’s currently is planning renovations to its current location, but ideally would like a larger facility to better serve its customers. Fairmount is asking for an approved purchase agreement before the end of November so that Heinen's can begin its plans for a new building. If an agreement is not achieved by that time, Fairmount will not go forward with the proposal, and Heinen’s will begin renovations to its current building.
