New Tennis and Pickleball Courts at Barlow Farm Park Coming Soon!
Dust off your rackets and paddles in preparation for new Tennis and Pickleball Courts scheduled for construction at Barlow Farm Park for completion this fall!
In 2021, Hudson City Council asked City staff to explore having a community Tennis and Pickleball Court Complex constructed in one of the City Parks. The Park Board indicated this type of a complex ranked high on the list of parks priorities in the newly developed Parks Master Plan. City staff subsequently recommended the complex be located in a large open grass area of Barlow Farm Park located on Barlow Road. It will be located in the front area of the park on the south side of the existing entrance drive.
The Tennis and Pickleball Courts Complex will consist of 5 tennis courts and 12 pickleball courts for use by park visitors on a first-come first-served basis. The project budget is $1.5 million. The Park Board and City Council asked that some amenities be included as project alternates to be considered based on costs. The Park Board and the City Council will review those costs following the bidding process and decide on whether to implement the alternate amenities. Alternates include items such as a practice wall, benches and seating, supplies and equipment storage shed, shade pavilion structure(s), and court fencing windscreens.
You will see construction beginning in May. The City looks forward to opening this new complex in the fall of 2022.

Has Hudson looked at other pickleball complexes that have been in use for a while to see what best practices, products, layouts and lighting are most appreciated?

Yes, multiple other facilities were used to determine best practices when we created our design specifications.

I just took the pickleball survey and forgot to make one comment. There should be a bike rack in the parking lot so people could ride their bikes to play.
