Let's Talk about the E. Streetsboro/Stow Rd. Sidewalk Project!

The City of Hudson is planning a new sidewalk project along E. Streetsboro St. (Hayden Pkwy. to Stone Rd.) and along Stow Rd. (E. Streetsboro St. to Hudson Springs Park). The projects are being designed now and are scheduled to be constructed in 2023 and 2024. There will be no cost to homeowners for construction of these sidewalks. The sidewalks are being proposed on the south side of E. Streetsboro St. and on the east side of Stow Rd.

The City will hold a public information meeting on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Hudson City Hall, lower level, 1140 Terex Road, Hudson, Ohio from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

City staff and representatives from the consultant AECOM will be available to answer resident questions at the meeting. The conceptual sidewalk plans, and other exhibits will be made available for review at the meeting. All the exhibits that will be presented at the Public Input meeting are attached to this link below.

Is it believed to be the safest decision to cross all kids coming from school, across 303 that live east of N. Hayden? The current plan seems most cost effective not safest for our children.

Thank you for your question. Currently, the City is still collecting resident’s opinions of the proposed sidewalk and will evaluate all responses with staff and City Council upon closure of the survey on November 12, 2021.  Please note, currently there is no sidewalk through this corridor and by providing a new sidewalk will already be a substantial improvement then what is currently there.  As design progresses, the sidewalk will be designed to ODOT standards, City of Hudson standards and follow ADA requirements.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach back out to me. My contact information is on the righthand column of this site. I will be out of the office the week of November 8, but will respond when I return to the office.

Will there be pedestrian cross-walks strategically placed? Ex. St. Regis over 303 to south side to access the sidewalk. Also at intersection of 303 and Stow Rd. Will these cross-walks be pedestrian-controlled and pedestrian-first? Will they have lights that force traffic to stop?

Thank you for your response. Currently, the design at the intersection of SR 303 and Stow Road will incorporate pedestrian crossings that will follow ODOT and ADA compliant standards. All non-major intersection will not be signalized but will receive the minimum of a curb ramp. Please note that the design will be ongoing and variables could change.   Please feel free to contact me directly at jszalay@hudson.oh.us with any more questions.
