<h1>What is the Walk &amp; Bike Plan?</h1><p>The City of Hudson Walk &amp; Bike Plan represents the continued effort to provide safe and practical community-wide bicycle and pedestrian connectivity in the community. The 2021-2025 Plan (previously called the Sidewalk &amp; Trails/Connectivity Master Plan) was approved by City Council in February 2021. The plan is updated every 5 years and takes approximately 8 months to complete, including multiple rounds of Council discussion, public engagement, and plan development. Write a comment on this page.</p><p>2. Use the Mapping Tool on this page to drop a pin on the map along with a comment about what you would like to see there... a sidewalk, trail, bike path, etc.</p><p>3. Attend in-person public engagement opportunities. These will be listed under the Public Engagement section on this page as details are available.</p><p>The public input period will be open from approximately March through May. City staff will then provide City Council with a summary of the public input received and begin to create the plan according to resident and Council input.</p><h2>Creation of the Plan</h2><p>Priority connections are identified through the public outreach effort to residents and consideration of several other important factors identified by City Council. The following are examples of factors considered when ranking potential sidewalk segments or trails:<img src="https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/ehq-production-us-california/97e6f74921a94f5d80e005b988f0032579bcc720/original/1709577111/aa85c0c9694ac6c849c8f76eb418ec8b_2.png?1709577111" style="width: 248px;" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-fir"></p><ul><li>Located along main road or high-speed road</li><li>Connects neighborhoods to destinations such as schools, parks, and downtown</li><li>Connects neighborhoods to regional trails such as the Bike and Hike Trail</li></ul><p>Sidewalk and trail segments that are most desired based on resident input and that satisfy more of the ranking factors receive higher scores. The highest scoring segments are then budgeted for design and construction in the City&#39;s 5-year budget plan. Council budgeted $20 million to complete the sidewalks and trails identified in the 2021-2025 Plan. The City of Hudson is planning a new concrete sidewalk and storm water project along the south side of West Streetsboro Street (SR 303), between West Case Drive and Nicholson Drive.

The Safe Routes to Schools program is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

In 2018, the City received a federal grant administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to fund the South Main Street Widening project.

This is a new sidewalk project on Middleton Road from Valley View Road to High Point Park and on Stow Road from Middleton Road to the Twinsburg Township Corporate line.

As part of the Hudson Sidewalk and Trail Master Plan, a project is being planned to construct a new 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along Valley View Road from Hines Hill Road to Hunting Hollow Drive and along Hines Hill Road from Valley View Road to Glastonbury Drive.
